SAS stands for Special Air Service and is the prime special forces arm of the British military, most famous for rescuing the hostages during the 1980 Iranian Embassy hostage crisis. In the Firewall adaptation, which will be retitled Echelon probably thanks to that crappy Harrison Ford thriller, Bana will attempt to keep a large terrorist organization away from “the world’s largest computer intelligence database.” You know, like you do.

McNab is actually a pseudonym, as the author of the Stone series is an ex-SAS officer himself who was held and tortured by the Iraqi military for six weeks and therefore must keep his identity secret. Clearly these books come with a lot of first-hand knowledge attached, and with James Bond on ice for the time being, it’s probably a good time to bring out another British super-soldier. And, as in all things, the more Bana, the better. I’m in.

Deadline is reporting that Farrell and Eric Banaare currently in negotiations to star in the film, which will be directed by Up In The Air co-writer Sheldon Turner. While details about the project are slim, Farrell and Bana would play two friends and co-workers who become enemies after one betrays the other. While both of the actors are interested in the film, their representatives have been unhappy with the salaries that have been offered so far.

It would be fantastic if this deal worked out. Farrell and Bana are two of Hollywood’sbest imports working at the moment and seeing them square off in a heavy drama sounds like cinephile heaven. Neither actor has been scrounging for work as of late and this sounds like a project that has dual Best Actor nominations written all over it. Fellas, be open to a pay cut.

Sorry for the lack of updates around here. What can I tell you? Offline life has kept me BUSY. But don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about this site at all. I am in the process of getting a lot of Eric’s older films to cap them for this site. So there will be tons of Eric goodies to come.

Anyways, this is a quick update. I came across three stills from Eric’s breakout role in Chopper. It’s hard to believe that this is the same gorgeous man we have all come to love.

The Australian actor is in negotiations to star opposite Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) in Hanna, Focus Features’ tale of a teenage assassin being directed by Joe Wright (Atonement).

Bana will play Ronan’s father in the story of a 14-year-old Eastern European girl saved from a CIA breeding camp and raised by her dad to be a cold-blooded killing machine. After finding peace with a French family, the girl is dragged back to her father’s world, and she must fight her way to a free life.

Bana last appeared in Judd Apatow’s comedy-drama Funny People and the romance The Time Traveler’s Wife. However, the Aussie made his American movie mark in such films as The Hulk and sword-and-sandal epic Troy and gained his action spy movie cred with Black Hawk Down and Munich.
